About Us

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

The Preston M. Green Department of Electrical & Systems Engineering values the diversity of the Washington University in St. Louis student body.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Statement

We, as members of the ESE department, consider equity, diversity and inclusion to be indispensable elements of academic excellence. We believe that it is through the sharing and acceptance of diverse perspectives that we can fully achieve a more equitable and inclusive working and learning environment. We recognize that disparities in the treatment of individuals and groups based on race, gender, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, veteran status, religion and ethnicity still exist in our society, higher education and our profession. Such disparities are unacceptable.

We are committed to ensure that no members of our community experience bias, harassment or discrimination within our department, and guarantee accountability if they do. We are actively working to increase the diversity of our student body, faculty, and staff so that they are representative of the diversity that exists in our society, and we are tracking our progress.
