CPAP Supplies Plus/Direct is a small business e-commerce site that focuses in selling medical equipment for the treatment of sleep apnea. With nearly three million dollars in sales annually, a large amount of time and effort is spent on making sure the correct items are always in stock. The company previously used manual inventory planning, involving the warehouse manager spending multiple hours each morning determining what is needed for a given day. Not only did this process take an excessive amount of time, but it was inefficient in accounting for the many factors involved with proper inventory management. The goal of this project was to automate this process, so that the purchasing department would be able to run a report each morning detailing exactly what and how many of each item to order. This was accomplished by accounting for past demand, lead time, minimum and maximum order quantities and other factors associated with purchasing. After implementation, the system now yields a steadier and more accurate inventory level that will continue to better meet customer needs.
