Das Family Distinguished Career Development Assistant Professor
Professor Shen joined the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis in 2009. He runs the Laboratory of Quantum Optics Research Group in the School of Engineering & Applied Science. Dr. Shen received his PhD in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 2013, he earned a National Science Foundation CAREER Award and a Bear Cub Entrepreneur Grant.
Professor Shen's group explores novel quantum and classical phenomena of light, and its interactions with materials at nano-scales. Current research interests focus on exploiting new artificial material concepts (metamaterials), as well as fundamentally new possibilities for optical physics and quantum information processing.
