Professor Heinz Schaettler of the Department of Electrical & Systems Engineering is the coauthor of a new textbook entitled, "Geometric Optimal Control - Theory, Methods and Examples."
The textbook gives a comprehensive treatment of the fundamental necessary and sufficient conditions for optimality for finite-dimensional, deterministic, optimal control problems.
Urszula Ledzewicz, distinguished research professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, coauthored the book.
