Pei-Lan Liu, a DSc student in the Preston M. Green Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at Washington University, was awarded first prize in the student paper competition at the 10th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation
(WCICA 2012). The 2012 WCICA was held in Bejing, China on July 6-8, 2012.
Her award-winning paper was titled "Quantum Multi-Channel Decoupling" and was co-authored by ESE Professors Jr-Shin Li and Tzyh-Jong Tarn. The paper introduces a novel method of decoupling multiple quantum channels using the quantum feedback control. The work additionally details a systemic design of quantum multi-channel systems and offers applicable tools to the modeling of quantum networks and scalable control of quantum circuits.
